The Road Less Travelled

Whether it be a relationship, career, or financial matter, human beings most often seem to choose the pathway of life which we know is wrong for us. I can't comprehend why but also can't deny that I myself have sometimes chosen the wrong path when it comes to this life and the challenges it presents.

Fortunately, having chosen God to be a part of my life and having taken the steps necessary to become more serious about my Christian walk was the wisest decision I could have ever made. This road allowed me to understand unwise choices and encouraged me to make wiser choices for the future in all aspects of my life.

Coincidentally, while pondering on this subject, a friend sent me a wonderful email. It says this:
Think about all that God is. God is peace, joy, strength, power, abundance, truth, and love. God is not pain, anger, fear, confusion, restriction, or destruction. So often we find ourselves in painful, frightening, and destructive situations that limit our freedom or make us unhappy. For some reason we convince ourselves that where we are is where God wants us to be. If it is not peace, joy, love, and harmony, it is not God! God does not want us to be in pain. However, God will not interfere with the choices we make. If we choose to stay in an abusive relationship, an unfulfilling job, a chaotic family environment, or any other harmful situation, God will not interfere! God cannot move us until we are ready to be moved. God cannot help us until we are ready to be helped. God cannot save us unless we want to be saved. When we understand who God really is and how that relates to who we are, we are free to choose a better way of living. When we choose better God moves in mysterious ways! {STERLING}

What a powerful message!  We so often blame God for traumatic situations we find ourselves in knowing good and well they are a result of choices we ourselves have made. This is definitely one message we should heed in all situations.
Things are not always as they appear. God's sovereign providence is always beyond what you can see. ~Dr Tony Evans
Another thing you have to remember is, your blessings will come in obedience. My mom always reminds me of that and pass that on to my children as well. Unfortunately, only a few of us will choose to take the road less traveled.

Blessed in Christ

Consider what it means to be blessed in Christ with every spiritual blessing. Take 2-3 minutes to prayerfully think about how you could approach your day today with this in mind. When you have a moment of decision or a crisis today, recite your verse quietly to yourself. Then go forward in faith, believing "God has blessed me in Christ with every spiritual blessing." Trust in His strength and remember His love for you. ~Laurie Aker

Happy by Dr. Kenneth Ulmer

Dr. Kenneth Ulmer blessed us a few Sundays ago... Here are my notes from his sermon. When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ( Matthew 5 : 1-3 NASB) Jesus pronounced, declared the people in the multitude "happy". Blessed = Happy, happiness. But not a happiness as the world knows.  He speaks of the term of the "gods" which is a state where you're unaffected by the world of men, doesn't waiver with the rise and fall of your circumstances of life.  First exhortation was to repent - a change of mind, change of direction.  Root word = mind, to think.  An intellectual dimension of following Christ.  Go beyond or go further than.  To think beyond what you thought.  Something about repentance that enables you to see beyond the right now to the not yet.  You are ...

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

People will let you down. The only opinion you should accept about who you are and your self worth is The Lord's. Stop listening to people and internalize what your Heavenly Father says about who you are.  Remember,  God's word is true... You are precious in His sight.
